Once inserted, gems cannot be removed from a socket.Gem Shrine either produces a gem or upgrades one gem (randomly chosen from your character’s inventory) to the next higher grade.Upgrade recipe: 3 Gems of the Same Type and Grade (lower than Perfect) = 1 Higher Grade Gem of the Same Type.Seven types of Gems: Ruby, Sapphire, Topaz, Emerald, Diamond, Amethyst, Skull.Five grades of gems, from lowest to highest: chipped, flawed, standard, flawless, and perfect.Hot tip: if you find a gem shrine, clear your inventory of all but a single flawless gem, when you use the shrine it will convert that flawless to a perfect, so you get to control it if no gems in your inventory, you get a random chipped. If you ever play mods, created a “gem bag” that you store gems in, but also QoL’d gem upgrading so every gem you pick up you can just mute to perfect (for crafting, rolling, etc), otherwise you tend to just toss them lol. 6 p skulls to re-roll rare diadems (typically made by charsi imbue). Most crafting recipes I do are cb gloves (p ruby needed) and caster belts, rings, ammys (p amth). Once I have the pgem, I do something with it…for most of them, I just use 3 pgems to re-roll high level gcs (dropped in alvl 85 or higher, especially by Baal or Nihl) to roll skill gcs. When I still played vanilla on bnet, I would always keep flawless gems I found, as it just takes 3 of any type to get a perfect.
